Azure Information Protection Unified Labeling client having issues with policy updates?

This week the Azure Information Protection team announced there is an issue in the current AIP SDK with regards to refreshing the policy. Details on the issue around the root cause and work around can be found on Tech Community.

The issue is also impacting the Azure Information Protection Unified Labeling client

Only the issue is not limited to the SDK and also impacts the Azure Information Protection Unified Labeling client. If you are facing issues currently with the AIP UL client not updating it’s policy, please follow below mitigation steps (provided by the AIP team).

To mitigate this problem you have few options:

  • New AIP UL client GA is planned for next week and it includes the SDK fix, we encourage everyone to upgrade to the new version once it will be available.
  • Administrators can use Clear-AIPAuthentication script on logon to perform this action remotely and automatically.
  • Remove the mip folder manually (%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\MSIP\mip\)

If you need help, let me know and see if we can fix the issue 😉
